| Extreme Cred, the latest and greatest ground breaking biz from the Extreme Group has quickly become the UK’s No 1 and best-selling youth focused prepaid card.
In May 2006 Extreme announced the launch of Extreme Cred, the UK’s best value and coolest pre paid payment card offering all the advantages of conventional credit and debit cards without the risks of debt and overspend.
Aimed at the youth market Extreme Cred is a grown-up way to handle money and pocket allowances, eliminating the dangers of carrying cash whilst being free of the restrictions of a bank account. Extreme Cred is also pending to be launched in four other European counties by the end of 2006 and is expected to be available Europe wide by the end of 2007.
How it works: Available to anyone over thirteen years old, teenagers and students can now spend money in the same way adult credit and debit card holders can – online, whilst travelling abroad, withdrawing at cash machines, in restaurants, bars, shops and anywhere MAESTRO cards are excepted.
The significant difference is that the money has to be paid onto the card UPFRONT either through debit or credit card transfer or in cash at Post Offices or at Paypoint contractors. The principle is the same as known from ‘pay as you go’ mobile phones – the credit available is what has been paid onto the card. There is no minimum amount needed to be held on the card but the maximum is £ 5000.
